Made in Britain: £11m Investment Powers UK Electric Motorcycle Maker

Coventry-based Maeving, the UK’s only electric motorcycle manufacturer, has just secured a major £11 million investment to grow its business and help power Britain’s motorcycle industry into the future.

Maeving was born in the heart of British bike country, using homegrown engineering and design talent to build stylish, electric bikes with removable batteries you can charge from a standard plug. With almost 75 % of parts made in the UK, the company is not only building bikes here but helping strengthen jobs and skills across the British supply chain too.

The funding package brings together British investors including Future Planet Capital, Venrex and Elbow Beach Capital, as well as support from the West Midlands Co-Investment Fund. That fund, backed by the West Midlands mayor, has put in £500,000 alongside other private backers, plus a £3 million working capital facility from HSBC UK.

Maeving’s electric bikes are already outselling rival electric models in the UK, beating imports from big global brands. Its RM1S model was even named Electric Bike of the Year 2025 by Motorcycle News.

Co-founder Sebastian Inglis-Jones says the company’s aim from day one was to bring electric motorcycle manufacturing back to the West Midlands, building on Britain’s rich two-wheeled heritage while shaping cleaner, quieter cities.

This investment isn’t just about cash — it’s a vote of confidence in British innovation, helping Maeving accelerate exports and create more high-skilled jobs right here in Coventry and beyond.
