£2.1m backing keeps England’s regional film industry rolling

Filming in England has secured £2.1 million in UK Government funding to help film and high-end television productions work across England’s regions over the next three years.

The funding comes from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and is administered through the BFI. It is part of the Government’s £75 million Screen Growth Package, with this allocation focused on production support outside London.

Connecting productions with regional talent

Filming in England, part of Creative UK, will continue coordinating support between film offices, screen agencies, local authorities and industry partners. Its team helps productions find locations, crew, suppliers, studios and build space, while providing insight into the sector’s economic impact.

The service covers England’s five recognised production hubs: the South East, South West, West Midlands, North West and Yorkshire. Recent projects supported include Hamnet, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Rivals and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with further productions including Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew and Avengers: Doomsday listed among upcoming releases.

The longer-term funding model is intended to strengthen collaboration and make it easier for regional communities to benefit from screen work, including jobs and local spending.

Why it matters for Britain

The investment gives England’s film and television hubs more continuity and practical support. By linking productions with local workers, businesses and facilities, it can help spread creative-industry opportunities and spending beyond London.
