CAMRA is looking for the UK’s most picturesque pubs, with nominations now open for its 2027 Pub Design Awards.
The awards celebrate more than handsome buildings. They recognise thoughtful conservation, high-quality refurbishments, new pub designs and buildings given a fresh lease of life as community locals.
Five ways to enter the awards
Pubs can be nominated in five categories: Conversion to Pub Use, Historic England Conservation, New Build, Refurbishment and Community Local.
Recent examples include St Peter’s Tavern in Liverpool, which occupies an 18th-century church, and The Woodman in Birmingham, the 2026 Historic England Conservation winner. Converted high street shops have also received recognition.
Run by CAMRA with Historic England, the awards are open to any UK pub that meets the criteria. Owners, tenants, architects, CAMRA members and pubgoers can all submit nominations, although the licensee must be aware of and approve an entry.
Eligible work must have been completed between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026. Entering is free, and nominations close on 18 November. Judges will visit shortlisted pubs during the following year, with the awards ceremony due to take place in June 2027.
Why it matters for Britain
The awards highlight the care and creativity going into preserving local pubs, reusing older buildings and creating places for communities to meet. They also give visitors another reason to explore distinctive pubs across the UK.
