A new truck stop near Lutterworth is combining secure HGV parking with high-power charging for electric heavy goods vehicles.
Developed by Keoma Energy with Bosch Road Services, the 22,500-square-metre Electroway site at Magna Park is designed to address the shortage of safe lorry parking in the UK. It is the first UK location on Bosch’s secure parking platform to offer both parking and electric vehicle charging.
Parking that can be booked in advance
Drivers and fleet operators can search and reserve spaces through a website, mobile app or existing transport management systems. The platform uses details such as route, departure time and remaining driving hours to help plan stops, potentially cutting down on detours and supporting compliance with driving and rest rules.
Electroway has controlled access, fencing, lighting, video surveillance, automatic number plate recognition and 24-hour remote monitoring. The site also includes fire detection, turnstiles and QR-code access, with security designed to protect drivers, vehicles and cargo.
The need is clear: NaVCIS recorded nine HGV-related crime incidents a day in 2025, while losses linked to HGV and cargo crime were estimated at £65.1 million. Bosch’s wider platform already covers more than 30,000 spaces across 12 European countries, including more than 50 UK sites.
Energy-use forecasts will also help operators plan journeys for electric trucks and work out where charging fits into their routes.
Why it matters for Britain
The Leicestershire hub gives freight operators a safer place to stop while supporting the shift towards electric lorries. Better planned parking could also reduce unnecessary journeys and help keep supply chains moving.
