More than 500 young people attended Cornwall’s first Youth Guarantee Jobs Fair, where they met employers offering jobs, apprenticeships, training and work experience.
Held at the Eden Project, the event helped more than 250 young people secure job opportunities on the day. It also gave visitors practical advice on applications, interviews and finding suitable vacancies.
Building skills for Cornwall’s growing industries
Employers and training providers highlighted opportunities in renewable energy, engineering and critical minerals — sectors attracting growing investment across Cornwall.
Workshops were designed to make the most of those opportunities. One session led by Google covered using AI to improve CVs, prepare for interviews and plan career goals.
The fair is part of the Government’s Youth Guarantee, which aims to ensure young people under 25 can access a route into work, training or further preparation. The wider support package is backed by £2.5 billion and is expected to support almost one million young people while creating 500,000 opportunities.
Jobs fairs are being held across Great Britain, with more than 1,000 young people already moving into jobs, work experience or training through the programme.
Why it matters for Britain
The event gives young people in Cornwall direct access to employers and practical career support close to home. It also connects local workers with industries such as clean energy and engineering, where the region is seeing increased investment.
